Pastor Rebecca Bourret
Greetings! It has been my privilege to serve as Pastor of Christ Lutheran Church since being called to this vibrant community of faith in January, 2008. My husband Jeff and I, along with our three young adult children, are grateful to pray and serve, give and receive alongside the faithful and fun folk of Christ Lutheran Church.
I was raised in the Hartford, Connecticut area, received by B.A. from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio and my M.Div. from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. Prior to my call to Christ Lutheran Church, I served parishes in Bristol, Manchester and Glastonbury, Connecticut, and as Associate to the Bishop of the New England Synod.
When I’m not working, I enjoy cooking, reading, music, and travel.
I began my service as Music Director and Organist at Christ Lutheran Church in July, 2013 following a long tenure as Music Director for St. Mark’s School in Southborough, MA. It is a real joy to be part of such an engaged and energetic parish and a privilege to support enthusiastic music making in worship at Christ Lutheran Church!
My wife, Joan Ellersick and I live in Watertown, and my four adult children and their families all live and work in the Boston area. Joan is a professional violist and teacher.
I graduated from Susquehanna University (AB in Organ Performance) and the University of South Florida (MM in Choral Conducting). My work with the Massachusetts American Choral Directors Association has included terms as the Repertoire and Standards Chair for Music in Worship and as Chair for Male Choruses. I also moderate a quarterly meeting of Massachusetts and New Hampshire Lutheran musicians. In addition to directing music at Christ Lutheran, I serve as Music Director for the Boston Saengerfest Men’s Chorus.
Joan and I love to bike, hike and travel.
